Community Events- Miltonvale Park and Milton Community Hall – November 5, 2021

A Vax Pass is required to attend events at the hall. It is not required to visit the Council office, the washrooms, the food cupboard, for worship services, or for those under 12.

The 50-50 Draw – The Milton Community Hall’s regular 50-50 draws happen twice every month. The first is on the 15th of every month and the second is drawn on the last day of every month. Tickets are $3 or 2/$5. Drop in for tickets or e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com.

Congratulations to George Piercey won the Oct 31 draw of $110.50. We expect the next draw to be larger, as it will include the sales at the Craft Fair. If you would like to support the hall in a hassle-free way -you can e-transfer (or drop in with) money -e.g. $20 and ask that the hall look after buying you 2 tickets for each of the next four draws (two months!).

Coffee Club happens on Mondays and Friday at 10 a.m. at the Milton Community Hall. Feel free to drop in for coffee, tea, treats and conversation.

Mat Yoga continues on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 am and is on a drop-in basis.

Chair Yoga will be held on Tuesdays at 10:30 am and Thursdays at 9:30 with Leone Curtis at the Milton Community Hall. Cost is $5. Chair yoga will now require pre-registration. https://docs.google.com/…/1UK-4nQj…/edit…

Exercise classes are held with Michele Gallant on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. Cost is $5 and there is one or two spaces in the classes. Please email admin@miltonvalepark.com. We can also make arrangements for people to attend vis zoom – so if that is of interest, please contact admin@miltonvalepark.com.

The municipality has lots of children’s and young adult books for readers in Miltonvale Park. Pop by the hall to pick up any of the following: There is No Dog, Legends, Icons and Rebels (Music that Changed the World), Chronicles of Avonlea, Anne of Ingleside, Emily Climbs. My Journey with the Stars, Paul the Puck (Ottawa Senators), Julien, and a Grade 4 workbook. There are also five treat bags left after Halloween – if you have a teen who didn’t get trick or treating or a younger child that missed it, please let me know and it could be theirs!

French Cooking – Madeleines & More – with Margaret Prouse – Wednesday, November 17 at 1:30 p.m. Space is limited, and the “More” is planned to include leek and potato soup. Free for Miltonvale Residents aged 55+ and by donation for others. Pre-register at admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090. *Year of France.

Painting – There may still be one space at the painting classes (acrylics) with Julia Purcell for six Tuesday afternoons, beginning November 9th, 2021. $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents. Contact the Council office if you are interested – or to be on the waiting list.

The Milton Community Hall Christmas Craft Fair is going to be held on Saturday, November 13 from 9-3 p.m. Admission is $3 and includes door prize tickets. Check the Facebook page for details. – or contact the hall at miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. Everyone who is 18+ and lives in Miltonvale Park is automatically a member of the Milton Community Hall, Inc. Wheatley River WI is hosting their Craft Fair this weekend (9-2) both Saturday and Sunday at the Wheatley River Hall.

Storytelling – The Young at Heart Musical Theatre Company is hosting a storytelling project – recording people’s stories, improving your storytelling and more (You don’t have to tell your stories in public if that is not something you are comfortable with). They are meeting upstairs at the Milton Community Hall on Wednesday Nov. 10th and 17th at 1 p.m. If you are interested in learning more, contact miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com or 902-566-3154.

There will be a presentation for seniors on “Planning Ahead” with a presenter from Community Legal Information on Wednesday, December 1 at 10 a.m. To register, contact miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com or 902-566-3154.

Reminders:

The time change happens early this Sunday morning – “Fall back” any clocks that don’t change automatically!

Next week is the “Big” collection week for waste, with the following week (Nov 15-19) being the special Yard Debris collection week by Island Waste Management Corporation. https://iwmc.pe.ca/fall-cleanup/

The Council Office will be closed on Remembrance Day, Thursday, November 11.

Tentative Planning Board Meeting – Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

There are still some cloth masks and the food supply cupboard at the Milton Community Hall, and little free libraries and free public wi-fi at both the Community Hall and the Community Park.
