Miltonvale Park & Milton Community Hall – Events – October 23, 2023

Coffee –Visit neighbors each Monday and Friday from 10 -11 a.m. at the Milton Hall. Coffee, tea, and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats. There will be Coffee on Oct 2.

This series of classes for The Resourceful Homeowner will take place on Mondays from 7:00 -8:30 TONIGHT: Yard work and flower gardens RSVP to MiltonMVPs@gmail.com

Potential Future classes – Guest speaker Peter McKenna – Basic plumbing and electrical; Simple home updates, changing door knobs, caulking, spray foam, wallpaper, tiling; Cleaning, what and when; Guest speaker- Peter McKenna -Answering questions

Yoga with Leone – Tuesdays – 9 a.m. Building Blocks of Yoga (mat) & 10:30 a.m. Chair Yoga. $6 Miltonvale Park residents and $7 for others.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meet at the Hall on Tuesdays at 6:15. For more information contact Joyce at 902-368-2055.

Weekly Wednesday Zumba Classes at take place at 5:30. The cost for Miltonvale Park residents is $2/class and non-residents are $5. Space is limited. Contact MiltonMVPs@gmail.com if you are interested.

Seniors Fitness Classes with Michele Gallant – at 9 a.m. and take place on Mondays and Fridays. They focus on balance and flexibility and are lots of fun! Cost $6. If you are interested, please email admin@miltonvalepark.com.

Fall Walk – Come join us for a fall walk at the Confederation Trail at the North York River Road on 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26. Chat, meet some friends/neighbours, see the fall foliage and get some exercise. The forecast is calling for a high of 17 and a mix of sun and clouds -so it sounds like a great day to stretch your legs!

Saturday, Oct. 28 – Municipal Children’s Halloween Activity – Miltonvale Park is planning to have an afternoon Halloween Treat bag Drive Thru for residents’ children. Please pre-register in ADVANCE here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MiltonHalloween23 Residents are most welcome to drop off treats to be included by Friday noon, at the Milton Community Hall.

Oct.31 is the deadline to buy tickets for the next 50-50 twice-monthly draw. You can buy tickets at the hall-or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. $3 each or 2/$5. The winner of the Oct. 15 draw was Lorraine Garneau who won $87.50. Thanks to all for your support!

Wednesday, Nov 1 is 4-H Day – and the day that the Wheatley River 4-H Club meets next at the Milton Community Hall at 6:45 (although there is a mini-dance and pizza on Oct 27 at 5:30). Delayed by COVID but encouraged by demand, the Milton Community Players present Some Neighbours: Yesterday Once More or, The Quintessential Sesquicentennial Review. A two-act comedy about the 150 years of Prince Edward Island’s participation in Confederation. and what has REALLY happened on the Island since 1873.

Yesterday Once More goes beyond the headlines and visits various families to understand why they moved here, their hopes of raising kids, and becoming part of the community…. and how to navigate all those roundabouts. The trials and tribulations of Freddy, flying from Newfoundland to Prince Edward Island, to meet his prospective bride, is worth the price of admission. His soon-to-be partner, a member of the local church’s PTISSER ladies, is determined to stamp out sins.

Freddy and all the passengers have their problems with the flight from Newfoundland, and there’s speculation they may not make it. It’s a flight you don’t want to miss.

Thursday, November 9, 2023 – For residents of the Miltonvale Park area

The Island Community Food Security Initiative is funding six community meals for residents and seniors in need before the end of March, 2024. We will be using local foods where possible, and hope these meals can ease some of the stress families and individuals may be facing during the winter. The meals will be eat-in or can be taken out. The 1st meal will be a Beef Stew Supper with dessert at the Milton Community Hall on Thursday, November 9.  Pick up will be from 5-5:45 p.m. with an eat-in option at 6 p.m. Deliveries can be available for those who need it within Miltonvale Park. There are 125 free meals available and preference will be given to Miltonvale Park residents. Tuesday, Nov. 14 – 7 p.m. North Milton WI at the Milton Community Hall (Please note the change in date to accommodate a special guest speaker).

Milton Community Hall annual Christmas Craft Fair will be Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9- 3 p.m. Admission is $2 for those aged 13+. There will be door prizes and a canteen available.

Tuesday, November 21 is the next Foods of PEI cooking presentation with Margaret Prouse at 1:00 p.m. To sign up for this “PEI -Through the Years” project, please email admin@miltonvalepark.com. Free for Miltonvale Park residents aged 55+ and by donation for others.

Community Pot Luck Supper – Join neighbours for a FREE POTLUCK supper at Milton Community Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. The hall will provide some meat options.
