Tonight (Thurs. Oct. 17) is the sold-out Red Dirt Skinners show. Doors will open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7pm. Please note this is not an event organized by the hall.
Saturday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. Drag Brunch – Join the Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park for a Drag Brunch at the Milton Community Hall. Drag is an artistic way of expressing yourself and showing the world who you are or who you want to be. Performers express different aspects of their gender or personality through dressing up, performing, being in parades, and volunteering in their communities. Space is limited. The brunch is free for Miltonvale Park residents. Other folks are welcome, by donation. To book your seat, contact admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090 by 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18.
Drag Queen Story Time – Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. The Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park invites families, caregivers and youth to a Drag Queen Storytime with Lady Fefe Fierce on at the Milton Community Hall. Drag queens reading stories to children captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives youth positive stories which promote diversity and inclusion. Our goal is to promote literacy and freedom of expression. Monday, November 4 – 6:30 p.m. Health Care Professionals PEI Food Presentation – Margaret Prouse will be demonstrating traditional PEI foods at an event specifically designed for PEI Health care workers. Monday, Nov. 4 – Women’s Network of PEI – The Reconnections program aims to build community by creating an intergenerational space for women and gender diverse Islanders to connect and share their interests. Monthly meetups will be held at the Milton Community Hall usually on one Monday each month until April 2025. The first meeting of each group will be focused on providing the opportunity for members to get to know each other. Each following meetup will include a meal and will host an activity decided upon by the group such as arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, or other, to foster joy and spark conversations. The Municipal Office will be closed on Friday, October 25, as the CAO is attending the annual meeting of the Association of Municipal Administrators.
The municipality will be hosting a car care information session with Floyd Newman and Darren Vanderaa – The date will be determined in the next few days – (late October-early November.) The North River Fire Department is recruiting new firefighters. Applications are being accepted until Oct. 31 at www.nrfd.ca
Garden – The Community Garden across the road needs pickers. When produce is picked, it is put in coolers at the community mailboxes at the hall and notification is put on Facebook, including the Miltonvale Park Residents private group. If anyone is interested in helping harvest and weed the garden, please contact Shari at admin@miltonvalepark.com. The lower half of the garden (furthest from Rte. 7) is for community use as most of the upper section has been planted for individual use. If you can help – contact Shari at 902-368-3090 or admin@miltonvalepark.com. Please check in with the office if you plan to forage in the garden, as there are some plans for certain vegetables for some events. We are supposed to be reporting the amount of produce grown in the garden (for the funders)-so if you pick some… please keep track of the amounts and report to me! Gardener Heidi Riley is meeting volunteers at the garden on Friday, Oct 18 at 10:30, if anyone is interested in helping get the garden ready for winter.
Mosquitoes – Residents in the Crabbe Road area who have benefitted from the treatment this summer to control mosquitoes are asked to forward their $30 contribution towards the cost of the 2024 mosquito control to the Council Office. Rachel Sentner has been collecting or residents can e-transfer admin@miltonvalepark.com, or drop off their contribution. Council does pay for the cost of black fly control in the Loyalist Road and Crabbe Road areas.
CHANGE IN DEVELOPMENT OFFICE HOURS – Mirko Terrazas will now be working at the Council Office at the Milton Community Hall on TUESDAYS from 10-2. Other hours may be arranged by appointment. Email Mirko at develop@miltonvalepark.com or call the office at 902-368-3090.

The Wheatley River 4-H Club is planning to make Peanut Butter Balls this weekend to sell with proceeds going to local food banks and community kitchens. The PB balls will be available from local 4-Hers (and there are lots!) or at the hall. Funds for the groceries were provided through an FCC 4-H Club fund grant. Local 4-Hers are also taking orders for the Provincial 4-H Fundraiser until Nov. 4 (PEI products – cheese, fudge, honey, jam and soap)– so if you know any 4-Hers, and want to support 4-H, more information is here: https://www.pei4h.ca/4hpeifundraiser
