
The Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park is Prince Edward Island’s
Most Active Community!
Miltonvale Park wins funds after residents and organizations got active throughout June during the 2026 ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk.
July 22, 2026 – The seventh edition of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, a national physical activity and sport initiative that encourages everyone to get active throughout June, ended with the Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park earning the title of Prince Edward Island’s Most Active Community and winning funds to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.
Mayor Hal Parker notes, “I am extremely proud that Miltonvale Park has been named the winner of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge. Miltonvale Park residents and friends have worked and played very hard in June to reach this goal. We are especially proud to have won for PEI two years in a row! I love to see the connections peoplemake as they exercise and move together. Parker continues that “We may be a small municipality, but we are definitely a very active one, and we will continue to be active year-round.”
Residents and neighbours participated in a variety of activities, organized by the Milton Community Hall, the municipality and taking place at the Miltonvale Community Park. People took part in Pickleball, 6:30 a.m. daily morning walks, Zumba, Yoga, Yin Yoga, Nerf Wars, soccer, exercise classes, baseball, Pilates, line dancing and square dancing. Residents also completed a virtual walk to Milton, Saskatchewan, and a Walk More than the Mayor Challenge. Resident Dana Coles, walked and ran 427 km, and was the only resident to beat Mayor Parker’s 354 km. Nine community organization participated in the challenge, with 4148 people participating throughout each day in June.
Miltonvale Park has won $10,000 to be used to promote physical activity in the municipality.
