WINNER!! – ParticipACTION Community Challenge 2026
Miltonvale Park has been named Prince Edward Island’s Most Active Community, winning the 2026 ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk! Miltonvale Park earned the title after residents and organizations got active throughout June.
Congratulations to Dana Coles, who was the only person to walk more than Mayor Hal Parker’s 479,589 steps (354 km). Dana Coles walked (and ran) 578,923 steps! Together, we virtually walked past Milton, Saskatchewan, which is near the Alberta border.
Nine community organizations participated in the challenge, with 4,148 people taking part each day throughout June. Miltonvale Park has won $10,000 to be used to promote physical activity in the municipality.
Thanks to all who participated and to our awesome instructors for the variety of classes that were held.
We have been taking July a bit easier -but hope to announce more events in August!
Weekly activities
Milton Hall – MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS & FRIDAYS 9 a.m -Exercise class – Join us for different exercise videos on the big screen at the Milton Community Hall. DROP IN. $1 No exercise class Aug. 12… though we may organize a walk instead.
Miltonvale Community Park – Youth Pickleball Lessons, Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. 9:30-10:30 a.m. Free. Suitable for ages 7-13 ish.
Milton Hall- TUESDAYS – YOGA with Leone 7:45 a.m. – Mat Yoga and 9 a.m. -Chair Yoga $10 Miltonvale Park residents and $12 for others. Drop in.
Milton Hall – MONDAYS & FRIDAYS – 10 a.m -Coffee Club – Open to all – Admission by donation of treats or coins.
Community Garden, across from Milton Community Hall – MONDAY – 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. -Garden Green Thumb Hours and THURSDAYS 8 a.m.-12 -Garden Green Thumbs. Beat the heat with an early start to help in the garden on Thursday, but drop-in when it is convenient.
Milton Hall – TUESDAYS 6 p.m. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). For more information, contact Joyce at 902-368-2055. No meeting on Aug. 11.

The Softball Field at the Park has also been booked for organized play during the following times: Monday -Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Milton Hall – Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. Join home economist Margaret Prouse for a cooking presentation on “Ferments.” Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. Milton Hall – Saturday, August 15, 8-11 am. Pancake Breakfast fundraiser for the Hall. $10 for adults and $5 for youth under 12.
St. John’s Anglican Church Blueberry Social – Tuesday, Aug. 18. Watch for details of this event, which is held at the Milton Community Hall.
NOTES:
COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE – The Green Thumb crew has harvested salad greens, dill, lettuce, green onions, kale, and the peas are starting. Produce will be at the coolers at the Milton Community Hall for Miltonvale Park residents, and those in need, when it is available.
Miltonvale Community Park – The park can be contacted at 902-368-7587 or miltonvalepark.staff@gmail.com. Ruth, Jax, and Molly will be working out of the park this summer. They have a weekday drop-in day program for school-aged youth from 9:30-12:30 and 1-4 p.m.
July 28-31 is Craft Week at the park, celebrated in the afternoons from 1-4. Puzzles on Tuesday, Trivia on Wednesday, Painting on Thursday and Rock Painting on Friday afternoon.

Reminder – There are books and puzzles to borrow in the lobby at the Milton Community Hall, and a Little Free Library at the park.

Seeking Talent for a Community Variety Show! – We are looking for you to share with us your talent – whether it’s music, comedy, poetry, acting, juggling, step dancing or anything else that can be shared on the stage. We are planning for a Community Variety Show on November 13th and 14th, with a technical rehearsal on October 24th. The Milton Community Hall is having insulation installed in the basement on Tuesday, Aug. 11. This will impact activities on Tuesday and Wednesday, and likely Thursday morning, (Aug. 11-13). Watch for details.
