ELECTION INFORMATION –Congratulations to Jamie Taylor, who was acclaimed mayor and will take office on December 7, 2026, for a four-year term.
Unofficially, the six elected Councillors are Leo DOUCETTE, Spencer MACDONALD, Heather NEILL, Jeannie NEWMAN, Paul POOLE, and Rose RAMSAY. Official results are finalized on November 16, Determination Day.
Best of luck to the new Council and many thanks to all who put their names forward.
Special thanks to outgoing Mayor Hal Parker, who oversaw a great many improvements to the municipality in his time on Council and as Mayor – pickleball/tennis courts, gazebo, dog park, paved walking track, lit and paved parking facilities, and improved playground equipment at the Miltonvale Community Park; extensive renovations to the Milton Community Hall, as well as significant improvements to its Emergency Management capacity (generator, stove, air purifier, commercial fridge and freezer and signage); the establishment of the Community Garden, and so many programs and activities (including the car show, seniors bus tours and activities, Halloween parties/drive through, community meals and food hampers, and many more. He was Mayor when the municipality brought water and sewer to the Sleepy Hollow area, and fiber op to Miltonvale Park. In the past two years, Miltonvale Park won the PEI Rural Beautification Society’s Community Spirit Award (twice), ParticipACTION’s Community Challenge as PEI’s Most Active Community (twice – $25,000 in prize money), FPEIM’s Municipal Achievement Award, and CPRA’s (Canadian Park and Recreation Association) Award of Merit. The municipality has made many great strides under Mayor Parker’s leadership, and we are grateful for all the time and effort he has put into making the municipality a great place to live.
Thank you to Councillor Andrew Frizzell, who has served two terms on Council. His input and sense of humor will be missed at the Council table.
