Stories Fill Me Up
Over the fall and winter, the municipality will be hosting “Stories Fill Me Up” – a series of meals and speakers for our senior residents (approximately 55+ years). Local people will share some stories that may be associated with a particular food or event. In the fall, a story about potato harvesting might have a potato dish included in the meal.
Space is very limited for the in-person meals so that seniors can be kept safe; however, there will be meals available for pick up or delivery (within Miltonvale Park only), if requested. Priority will be given to Miltonvale Park seniors for the in-person meals.
Pre-registration is required. If you are interested in telling a story, suggesting a theme, or delivering a meal, contact 902-368-3090. Some of the stories may include potato harvest/farming, school days, war, Christmas, snowstorms, electricity, pond skating/hockey, Valentines, St Patrick’s Day, spring mud. Story tellers are most welcome to share 10-15 minutes of memories.

TABLETS to Borrow
The municipality has just purchased six Samsung Galaxy tablets that are available to be loaned to seniors in Miltonvale Park and is planning two training sessions to help learn how to use them. If you, or a senior you know in the community, might be interested in borrowing a tablet, please contact the Council Office at 902-368-3090. They would be a great way to stay in touch with family and friends who are away. Free wi-fi internet could be accessed at the hall or the community park. Details regarding the length of loan will be finalized depending on the interest.
Cotton Face Masks
While quantities are available, the municipality is giving out reusable face masks to residents who have completed the EMO survey. Paper copies are available at the hall or it can be completed online. Pick up your mask at the Milton Community Hall.
COVID-19 Emergency Support for Community Organizations
The Milton Community Hall received a grant administered through the Red Cross to provide support for vulnerable community members. Residents Tristen Mitchell and Shanda Rae have been hired until November 30 to deliver the project and are asking residents to complete this short survey (which is also available on the last page of the October newsletter).
They have planned three Thursday evening information nights all beginning at 7 p.m at the Milton Community Hall to share information about COVID-19 (October 22), Health and Wellness (November 12) and Online Communications (November 26). Please RSVP to the Hall through the Facebook Event page or 902-566-3154. Seating is limited.
They will also be doing wellness checks on some residents. If you would like a call or visit, please call the Milton Community Hall at 902-566-3154 or email [email protected].
There will also be a Drive Thru Grocery Giveaway to support local products and assist families and individuals, on Saturday November 14 from 9:30 -11:30 at the Milton Community Hall. Baskets will contain local goods and produce, so if you are a local food producer who would like to be involved, please contact Shanda or the hall. This project will support families and individuals in the area as well as local producers. If you or your family could benefit from a food or household goods basket before the Drive Thru Grocery Giveaway in November, please contact Shanda at [email protected] or call the hall at 902-566-3154 and leave your phone number for her to return a call. If you have questions, suggestions or would like to get information or register for any events, please reach out!
