Events – Nov. 30, 2023

Coffee – Visit neighbors each Monday and Friday from 10 -11 a.m. at the Milton Hall. Coffee, tea, and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats.

Yoga with Leone – Tuesdays – 9 a.m. Building Blocks of Yoga (mat) & 10:30 a.m. Chair Yoga. $6 Miltonvale Park residents and $7 for others at the hall.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meet at the Hall on Tuesdays at 6:15. For more information contact Joyce at 902-368-2055.

Weekly Wednesday Zumba Classes take place at 5:30. The cost for Miltonvale Park residents is $2/class and non-residents are $5. Space is limited. Contact MiltonMVPs@gmail.com if you are interested. The classes before Christmas will be on Dec 6 and 13.

Seniors Fitness Classes with Michele Gallant – at 9 a.m. and take place on Mondays and Fridays. They focus on balance and flexibility and are lots of fun! Cost $6. If you need more info, please email admin@miltonvalepark.com. Classes will break after the December 1 class until Jan. 15, 2024. Class is cancelled if schools (Bluefield family) are cancelled or delayed for weather-related reasons.

Nov. 30 is the deadline to buy tickets for the next 50-50 twice-monthly draw. You can buy tickets at the hall-or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. $3 each or 2/$5. The winner of the Nov. 15 draw was Norma Jean Williams who won $50 Thanks to all for your support!

Friday, Dec 1 – Self Defense for Women -6 pm – Class is 1.5 hours long and is a $25 value! Melissa Rehel, a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Karate with 24 years of experience teaching self-defense, will teach you proven techniques to boost your confidence in self-defense situations. The Friday evening class is for females 16 years and older. Limited to 20 people. Free and priority for Miltonvale Park residents, $15 for others. Please email MiltonMVPs@gmail.com to make a reservation and note if you are a Miltonvale Park resident.  There will also be a youth class on Sat. Dec 9 at 10 a.m. The women who attended the first class this past Saturday really enjoyed it! —–Milton Community Hall’s Most Valuable People project is funded by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being.

Volunteers wanted -the hall is catering a turkey supper on Saturday, Dec. 2. Please contact Shari at miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com or 902-566-3154 if you would like to help out on Fri or Saturday in the preparation or serving of the supper.

Do you like to sing? The Milton Hall is welcoming singers on Monday evenings from 7-8 p.m. for a casual and fun singing group, beginning on December 4. Please register with Peggy at MiltonMVPs@gmail.com.

Wednesday, Dec. 6 is the next Foods of PEI cooking presentation with Margaret Prouse at 1:00 p.m. Dutch inspired foods will be presented. To sign up for this “PEI -Through the Years” project, please email admin@miltonvalepark.com. Free for Miltonvale Park residents aged 55+ and by donation for others.

TO BE CONFIRMED – The hall is planning a generator information session. The tentative date and time is Wednesday, Dec 13 at 7 p.m.

Thursday, December 14, 2023 – For residents of the Miltonvale Park area

The Island Community Food Security Initiative is funding six community meals for residents and seniors in need before the end of March, 2024. We will be using local foods where possible, and hope these meals can ease some of the stress families and individuals may be facing during the winter. The meals will be eat-in or can be taken out. The 2nd meal will be a Turkey Supper with dessert at the Milton Community Hall on Thursday, December 14.  Pick up will be from 5-5:45 p.m. with an eat-in option at 6 p.m. Deliveries can be available for those who need it within Miltonvale Park. There are 125 free meals available and preference will be given to Miltonvale Park residents.  Saturday December 16 is a Christmas afternoon Tea with music by Michael Pendergast. This is a Milton Hall Seasonal Seniors event. Spaces are limited and priority booking for this free event will be for Miltonvale Park seniors. Register at miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com or 902-566-3154.

Family New Year’s Eve Dance – Friday, December 29 from 7-9 p.m. FREE! Register at MiltonMVPs@gmail.com or 902-566-3154.

Miltonvale Park New Year’s Day Pancake Breakfast Monday, January 1 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for residents to celebrate 50 years of being a municipality, as Miltonvale Park was incorporated in 1974.

Learn to Square Dance –Tuesdays, beginning on January 16 at 2 p.m. More details to follow. PEI-Through the Years 

Air Fryer – We now have an air fryer for Miltonvale Park seniors to borrow to try out. Perhaps you are thinking about buying one for Christmas and want to see if you would use it. Please contact MiltonCommunityHall@gmail.com to get your name on the waiting list to borrow it for approximately a week, or call 902-566-3154.

Miltonvale Park has a $75 bursary program per child per year to participate in extracurricular sports, arts, cultural groups/activities and events. Application form

GIFT IDEA –  The Milton Community Hall sells gift certificates in the denomination of your choice. Drop by the hall to buy one for someone on your list!

 PEI Seniors Guide (2023) is now available. The electronic version (English) can be found at https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/sites/default/files/publications/senior_guide_update_september_2023.pdf. This Guide will also be made available in French in the near future.  Hard copies of the Seniors Guide (in both English and French) can be requested by contacting the Seniors Navigator (902-213-5820; seniors@gov.pe.ca) or the Seniors Policy Advisor (902-620-3785; seniors@gov.pe.ca). When requesting, please identify how many copies you would like, as well as the mailing address they are to be sent to.

 

PLEASE NOTE: For Miltonvale Park residents, if money or transportation is a barrier to any of the Milton Community Hall MVP (Most Valuable People) events, please let us know and we will do what we can to ensure that everyone can participate. Email MiltonMVPs@gmail.com.
