The Milton Community Hall is hosting Computer Classes with Andy Gallant on Monday evenings (7p.m) March 6th & 20th. These are funded through the PEI Seniors Secretariat. If you are interested in any or all classes, please sign up with the hall. [email protected] or 902-566-3154.

Understanding how computers work – and what exactly is the “Cloud”? – this will be a “How Stuff Works” type course where we’ll review larger overall concepts of computer/programs to give participants a general idea of what’s going on behind the scenes when they’re running a computer program, using a web service, etc.
March 20
Basic photo editing. Backing up your computer/smartphone. (It would be helpful to know ahead if participants generally use Apple or Android mobile devices).
Yoga classes are Tuesdays – Mat at 9:00 a.m. and Chair Yoga at 10:30. $6 for Miltonvale Park residents and $7 for non-residents. The first class is free for Miltonvale Park residents! Public Budget Meeting for the Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park – Wednesday, February 22, 2023 –7:00 p.m. at the Milton Community Hall. Storm date – Thursday, Feb 23. Residents and landowners of Miltonvale Park are invited to attend and provide input on the municipal operating and capital budgets for 2023-24. Please RSVP to [email protected] or 902-368-3090. A Greenhouse Planting session with gardener Heidi Riley will be held at the Milton Community Hall on Friday, Feb.24 at 11:00 a.m. This is free for Miltonvale Park Residents and by donation for non-residents. Friday, Feb 24 from 2-4 p.m. the hall is holding a Snowflake Ball from 2-4. Come dance the afternoon away! Admission is by donation to the QEH Foundation. And we are organizing four beginner conversational French classes in March on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m, beginning on March 9. They were really enjoyed in the summer of 2020 and the same teacher (Catherine MacDonald) is happy to come back and do four more classes. This is also part of the Year of Canada New Horizons For Seniors project.
Mark your Calendars – Next Community Meals –March 14. Michael Pendergast will be hosting a Newfoundland Kitchen Party after the March 14th supper. More details to follow. The second food box event is March 11. Registration for the meals and events will likely open the week before each event.
Come learn about maple syrup and enjoy a pancake lunch on Monday March 27 at 11 a.m.
We are scurrying to arrange the final few events for our seniors project – and are hoping to have an armchair travel event (or two!). Have you had a neat experience living, visiting or working in another part of Canada? Would you like to tell us about it?
We are also working to arrange a car maintenance session – and a “Literary Lunch” possibly on Wednesday March 22 -where you can come check out our selection of Canadian books, and perhaps bring along a book to recommend.
There will be a special Song Portrait event on Friday, March 31. Details and tickets to follow, as part of Radiant Rural Halls.
Reminder that the hall has KN95 masks, COVID rapid tests, a lending library of books and puzzles (and a box of cook books!). The municipality has rebates for HE washers, low flow showerheads, low-flow toilets that are replace older models that are 13L or more, and bursaries of $75/child/year for extra-curricular activities, like arts and culture classes, registration for 4-H, or other young organizations, or sports. https://miltonvalepark.com/for-residents/rebates-forms/ (REBATE Deadline is March 30, 2023) and when there is more snow – the municipality also has six pairs of snowshoes to lend out. We are also supposed to be organizing a short snowshoe trek – so if anyone would like to help coordinate that -please let me know! We can provide treats!
