What is Happening -Milton Community Hall and Miltonvale Park
All events will be held at Milton Community Hall –unless noted
Mondays and Fridays at 9:00-10:00 a.m.–Fitness for the 50+ Folks. Drop in for exercise classes to improve balance and flexibility with certified instructor Angelie Carter. Cost $3. There is no class Friday, Dec 6, and there will be a break after the December 16 class until January 6. Classes are cancelled if local schools are cancelled or delayed for weather reasons.
Coffee –Get to know your neighbors each Monday and Friday from 10 -11a.m. at the Milton Community Hall. Coffee, tea, and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats!
Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. –Chair yoga class takes place at the hall until December 11 and they resume January 8. $4. Chairs are used for balance and some poses. Classes are cancelled if local schools are cancelled or delayed for weather reasons. Yoga mats provided if needed
Mondays at 1:30 – Line dancing with Margot Postma $4 drop in until December 16 or $30 for 10 sessions starting again January 6, 2020.
*On Mondays from 1-3 p.m. (upstairs) Sewing and Craft Work Bee Sessions. Sewing machines are available but please bring whatever you are working on, or work on the community quilt project. There will be a Christmas Break.
.** Singing – Drop in to sing on Tuesday afternoons at 1:15 p.m. Last class before the Christmas break is December 11, with the music beginning again January 7, 2020.
*Lunch and Learn – Wednesday, December 4, at 12 noon. Come learn about Estate Planning with Cody Farrell, PFP (Financial Planner – Investment and Retirement Planning) with RBC. Admission by donation. Please RSVP by Monday, Dec 2 to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com or 902-566-3154.
Friday Dec 6 – The hall is catering a Christmas supper, and is looking for volunteer servers/platers.
Saturday, December 7 –Christmas Concert & Dance -with Phase II and Friends, from 8:00 pm-11:00 pm. Admission is $12 at the door.
North Milton Women’s Institute invites local ladies to their Christmas party and very short monthly meeting – Monday, December 9 at 7:30 pm at the home of Miriam Hooper. Call 902-368-2011 for more information.
**Friday, December 13 -Afternoon (1:30 p.m.) Christmas Art Party -Cost $20 RSVP by Tuesday. Dec 10. Everyone paints the same picture.
Friday, December 13 –Kelley Mooney Christmas Concert – AT St. John’s Anglican Church, Milton. 7:00 pm General Admission $15; 65+ $10; 12 and under free.
The annual Christmas Craft Fair is Sat. December 14. From 9-2:30. Admission $2-adults. 12 & under -free. Canteen available.
The North River Fire Department invites families to come to the Milton Community Hall to visit with them on their annual Santa Tour on Saturday, December 14 from approximately 6:30-6:50 p.m. Storm date -December 21.
Saturday, December 14 –”A Down Home Christmas” Concert featuring Janet McGarry & Wildwood . 7:30 p.m. Admission $12. Possible storm date – December 14.
Wednesday, December 18 – 9:00 a.m. til noon, Christmas Baking Bee. RSVP by Monday, Dec 16. Come bake together – some of the goodies will be distributed to seniors in the area, and bakers can also take home some tasty treats. If you have a recipe that is a Christmas treat that is fairly easy to make and fool-proof, we would love recipe suggestions!
Sunday, December 15 – The Open Bible Baptist Church invites community members to their church Christmas Pageant at 6:30 p.m. at the Milton Community Hall. The church meets regularly at the hall on Sunday mornings and evenings and Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.
Friday – Dec 20 – The hall has just been booked for a Christmas Concert with Kim Albert – watch for details!
Parents and Tots – The North Milton WI is hosting a parents and tots morning at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 for parents to meet up with other parents and young children, visit and grab a coffee/tea/ juice.
*Mondays, January 13,20 & 27 –Square Dance Classes – Join Christine Belanger to learn some square dancing steps from 7-8 p.m. Free for Miltonvale Park residents. $10 for all three classes for others. Pre-register at 902-368-3090 or admin@miltonvalepark.com.
*Basket making class – Thursday, January 16- 10 a.m. -3 p.m. $15 residents. Non-resident registration begins Dec. 10. $20 Limited numbers. Make a biscuit basket.
Milton Community Hall Annual General Meeting – for all residents of Miltonvale Park. Monday, January 27 at 8:15 pm. Constitutional change are being proposed.
Community Play – The Miltonvale Community Players have set the date for the play this year – Thurs-Sat, Feb 13-15, 2020. Tickets are now available for “Some Neighbours: Episode Six – Sheep on the Lamb” -$15
Municipal Council meetings are the 3rd Wednesday each month at 7:30. Planning Board usually meets the 2nd Wed. at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. There may not be a meeting in December, so please check in advance.
Meet Your Neighbour Night and Pot Luck Supper– Monday, March 9, storm date March 10. 6 p.m.
