ParticipACTION Community Challenge –Miltonvale Park and Three Rivers were named as the two finalists for PEI, with further submissions made today, and an announcement expected on July 22.Congratulations to Dana Coles, who was the only person to have walked more than Mayor Hal Parker’s 479,589 steps (354 km). Dana walked (and ran) 578,923 steps! Together, we virtually walked past Milton, Saskatchewan, which is near the Alberta border.
Thanks to all who participated, and to our awesome instructors, for the variety of classes that were held.

Miltonvale Park passed a Pickleball Policy in late 2025. The policy hopes to provide fair and organized access to the pickleball courts located at Milton Community Park, ensuring that courts are available for both casual users and organized play. The policy mentions pre-booking the courts, and while we are still organizing a system for that, for now, you can email miltonvalepark.staff@gmail.com. The Softball Field at the Park has also been booked for organized play during the following times: Monday -Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Milton Community Hall – Sunday, July 12 from 9 a.m -12 noon Join PEI Pathfinders and Rangers for a pancake breakfast fundraiser! Everyone is welcome! Hot coffee, delicious pancakes and sausages. Entrance by donation. Girl Guide cookies will be for sale. PEI girls who are members of Girl Guides of Canada are fundraising for the trip of a lifetime to Switzerland. Our Chalet is a World Guiding center. They will be participating in their program, which includes hiking in the Alps, kayaking in a glacier lake, and experiencing the Swiss culture.

Congratulations to Donna Bernard, Miltonvale Park’s Volunteer of the Year, 2026, and Nancy Hooper, winner of the 2026 Good Neighbour Award. Donna is very involved in the North Milton WI, the St. John’s Anglican Church where she is on the Council, co-leader of the Mothers’ Union, and on the fundraising committee. She also volunteers at Hall and municipal events – and is taking on a new role as grandmother to baby Isabella who arrived June 30! Congratulations Donna!
Nancy is also an active volunteer with the North Milton WI, organizing a wedding dress show several years ago. Nancy is also a leader of the popular Repair, Recycle, & Recreate project with the Wheatley River 4-H Club. Nancy also volunteers with the Milton Community Hall and Municipal events. Congratulations Nancy!

COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE – Today the Green Thumb crew harvested salad greens and garlic scapes, and think there will soon be kale and peas. Produce, when available, will be at the coolers at the Milton Community Hall for Miltonvale Park residents, and those in need. Ryan is planning to build a stand -so the location for garden pick up may change over the summer.
Miltonvale Community Park – The park can be contacted at 902-368-7587 or miltonvalepark.staff@gmail.com. Ruth, Jax and Molly will be working out of the park this summer. They have a week-day drop-in day program for school-aged youth from 9:30-12:30 and 1-4 p.m. and are planning rock and leaf painting Friday, July 10 at 1 p.m. Next week they are planning water week activities. This week, Meah won the scavenger hunt. In their Lost & Found, they have baby crocs (Canada Day), and a hat (from pickleball), red hoodie (from basketball) and jackets from Nerf Wars. Follow the Miltonvale Community Park on Facebook to keep up-to-date with park activities. Ask the staff if you are interested in playing disk golf.
Reminder – There are books and puzzles to borrow in the lobby at the Milton Community Hall, and a Little Free Library at the park.

New Horizons for Seniors Program is currently accepting applications and the Milton Community Hall and Miltonvale Park are looking for ideas! If there is something you would like to see happen in Miltonvale Park for folks aged 55+, between April 1, 2027-March 30, 2028, please send your ideas to admin@miltonvalepark.com, ASAP. The deadline for the municipality to make an application is July 14!
