THERE ARE STILL ABOUT 15 RADON TEST KITS AVAILABLE. The meeting will be recorded, if you want to take part, but are not available on Thursday evening.

Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. – Radon Information Night and pick up a 100-day radon test kit then, or the following week. Please register at https://form.jotform.com/252685216552258   to take part in this FREE program that will provide you with a radon test kit. Place the detector on the lowest level of your home where people live, and return it to the Milton Hall after 100 days to be sent off to be read. You will be contacted directly with results. Please ALSO contact the Council office at admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090 to sign up for the information session. The information session will also be available online. These kits are more sensitive than the ones provided through the provincial libraries. Radon is a radioactive gas that is released by the breakdown of uranium in the soil. It is odourless, tasteless, and colourless, and can enter buildings and enclosed spaces undetected. Since Canadian homes are sealed against the weather, radon can become trapped indoors, building up to dangerous levels. Long-term exposure to high levels of radon damages the DNA in our lung tissue and currently leads to over 3,000 Canadian deaths each year – more than the combined toll of car collisions, house fires, carbon monoxide poisoning, and drowning. There are about 15 radon test kits left to claim!

Friday, Oct. 31- Deadline to buy tickets for the hall’s next 50-50 draw. $3 each or 2/$5 – at the hall or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. The draw will take place on Sat., Nov. 1

Sunday, Nov. 2 – 2-3:30 p.m. Milton Community Hall is hosting a PAWS ROOM event this Sunday, which is for all ages. We invited 5 certified therapeutic dogs (including 2 certified dogs for kids) from TPOC, and hope more people can benefit from this program.

This is absolutely a great idea for the family weekend! Come meet the incredible therapy dogs from Therapeutic Paws of Canada (TPOC)! Chat with the professional trainers to learn more about training or evaluating your own dogs to be more therapeutic. You can also help raise money to support these amazing furry volunteers and their programs. It’s a win-win-win situation!

Admission is free for Miltonvale Park residents and by donation for others. Any input or donation to the program or volunteer team is appreciated. TPOC will provide certified dogs specifically for children at the event, which is open to all ages. Pets and food are not allowed at the event to avoid distracting our furry volunteers.

Space is limited. Secure your spot today by contacting Peggy at MiltonMVPs@gmail.com. We can’t wait to see you at Milton Community Hall from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 2!
