Miltonvale Park and Milton Community Hall – September 2, 2025

Voting continues for the PEI Rural Beautification Society’s Community Spirit – People’s Choice Award. $1000 is awarded to the Rural Municipality and the Town, which get the most votes… and folks can vote as many times daily as they wish! Please vote for Miltonvale Park – https://www.peirbs.ca/

Garden Produce – The Miltonvale Park Community Garden is growing well. Produce is available for Miltonvale Park residents or people in need,  in a cooler by the mailboxes at the Milton Community Hall as it is harvested. If you would like to help pick, Ryan is usually in the gardens Monday, Tuesday, and Friday mornings, but pickers at other times are welcome – touch base with  gardenatMVP@gmail.com or text 902-218-8219 if you would like to help when he is not here. There is usually a photo uploaded on the Miltonvale Park Residents (private) Facebook page as the cooler gets filled. The produce on the upper half of the garden (closer to the Rustico Road) belongs to individual gardeners, while the lower portion is communal. Please respect any signage in the garden regarding picking.

WEEKLY Events:

  • Coffee Club – Mondays and Fridays at 10 a.m. Open to all – Admission by donation of treats or coins.
  • “Flat” exercise class – Monday  & Fridays at 9 a.m. Work out with others to an exercise class on the big screen. Cost – $1. No need to register – just drop in! (Virtual Exercise continues on Fridays, after Michele re-starts Monday & Wednesday classes on Sept. 15).
  • Garden Work Times – Join Ryan in the community garden (opposite the Milton Community Hall) on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. Help is welcome at other times! Text 902-218-8219 for info.
  • TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meet at the Hall on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. For more information, contact Joyce at 902-368-2055.
  • Mindfulness on the Mat – Yoga on the Mat with Leone
    • TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS 7:55 a.m. Mat yoga ~ and 9:10 am for Yoga on the Chair.
    • Tuesday classes are hosted by Miltonvale Park and cost $10 for Miltonvale Park residents,$12 for others (Drop-in) on Tuesdays.
    • Contact LightLivingWithLeone@gmail.com for information on Friday classes, which have a  $13 drop-in fee or are also priced for a series of classes.
  • Wednesdays – from Sept 3 -Zumba 5:30 and from Sept 10 – Knitting at 1, Magic Circle at 2:30, Trobbing & Massage at 4, and from Sept 17 – Seniors Fitness at 9 a.m.
  • Weekly card parties – Come play Auction on Thursdays, at 7:00 p.m. Admission -$4. UNTIL September 25.
  • Sunday Night Movies – Most Sunday evenings at 6:30. Free for Miltonvale Park residents and by donation for others.
  • Pickleball – Miltonvale Community Park (413 Sleepy Hollow Rd.)

Wednesday Zumba is back with Natalia at 5:30, beginning on September 3. $2 for Miltonvale Park residents and $5 for others. Drop in for a fun exercise! Funded in part by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being. No need to pre-register.

Wednesday, September 3, Drum Circle at 7 pm. Join members of a weekly drum circle who will be meeting at the Milton Community Hall on Sept.3, to share information about the Mi’kmaq culture and language. All are welcome to join in, or just watch! Snacks provided. Free. Funded by the Government of Prince Edward Island. This drum circle was greatly enjoyed by those who attended when it was hosted before. Please RSVP to admin@Miltonvalepark.com.

Sunday, September 7 at 6:30 p.m. Sunday Movies resume with Please After You – Ali’s life in Canada as a newcomer is shaken when his naive cousin Omid arrives unexpectedly from overseas. His arrival sets off a tide of misadventures threatening to cost him his cherished ambitions and driving him to wits’ end. Monday, September 8– NEW – Mustard Pickles (Tomato Salsa has been moved later in the month).Preserving the Garden Workshop from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. at Milton Community Hall. These garden workshops with MacroMom Sarah Forrester teach you how to preserve your garden all year round. Each lesson will cover different produce and the ways to preserve it. Take home a jar of the produce. Limited space! Register at GardenatMVP@gmail.com. With financial support from the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, the Government of Prince Edward Island, and the Government of Canada. Priority registration for Miltonvale Park residents, as spaces are very limited for this hands-on workshop.

Mondays, beginning on September 8, at 1:30 –  Line Dancing with Margot. It may be full with experienced line dancers from previous years, but you can email admin@miltonvalepark to be put on a waiting list. $5 class.

Monday, September 8 at 7 p.m. The North Milton Women’s Institute will be reorganizing for the 2025-26 year. For more information, email NorthMiltonWI@gmail.com or visit peiwi.ca to learn more about this organization. All women are welcome at this community organization, which works for home and country, and is a great way to get involved. Registration fee is $15/ year.

Tuesday, Sept. 9 at  6 p.m. – Garden Club – Garden Journaling with Gloria Wooldridge. Register at 902-368-3090 or Gardenatmvp@gmail.com. The garden club has been funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Wednesday Knitting with Stella beginning Sept 10 at 1 p.m. Contact MiltonMVPs@gmail.com for more information on this group, which will have yarn and needles supplied, and will knit items to donate to good causes.

Wednesday, Sept 10 –  Magic Circle Workouts 2:30 -3:30 (FULL) – Magic Circles provided. Limited class size, and following online classes. Wednesday afternoons – Sept. 10, 17, 24, Oct 1, 8, and 15 at 4 p.m.   Trobing with Massage,  4-5 p.m. classes with Sylvie. TROBING with MASSAGE is back with the same unbelievable price as last year! $10 for Miltonvale Park residents and $20 for others if space is available for the series. Space is very limited. Miltonvale Park residents have priority booking until August 31. Miltonvale Park Seniors Supper Club -Friday, Sept.12, 2025 &  “Tunes with Tony -Musical Memories. Milton Community Hall – Eat in 6 p.m. Delivery for shut-ins -approx 5-6 p.m. Entertainer Tony Quinn at 7 p.m. Come for one or both events!

Priority for supper is Miltonvale Park residents (aged 55+). The Supper Club was designed to allow Miltonvale Park Seniors to come together to enjoy a meal – with those who are able, assisting with the meal. There will be speakers or “something” planned to turn the event into an entertaining evening.

Miltonvale Park’s Chat and G.B.& T. (Growing Better Together) project, which is funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, We are planning to feed about 40 seniors each meal, and for the September 12 meal are pleased to have entertainment by Halifax-based entertainer, Tony Quinn, following the supper. He sings old classics, Irish, Scottish, PEI, Cape Breton, Newfoundland, Broadway songs, and everything in between, in his show called “Tunes with Tony – Musical Memories.”

The meals are eat-in or will be delivered to local shut-ins. The menu includes lasagna and zucchini chocolate cake. The meal and entertainment are free for Miltonvale Park seniors and by donation for others, if space is available. There will be more space available for the entertainment than for the suppers. Saturday, September 13 from 7-9 p.m. ROOTS AND RHYTHMS Concert by CTW – an evening dedicated to the timeless sounds of traditional country and roots music,  on Saturday, September 13th, 7-9 pm at Milton Community Hall. Presented by the musical trio CTW, attendees can expect a variety of music, comedy, and a welcoming atmosphere.COST:  $2. Miltonvale Park residents and $5 for others. Sunday, Sept 14 – 6:30 p.m. Small Town Pride Sunday Movie 6:30 p.m. – Small Town Pride offers an intimate look at the joys and challenges of being queer in a small town. Filmed in Alberta, Nova Scotia and the Northwest Territories, the film follows LGBTQ2S+ people and allies as they prepare for their local Pride celebrations. Organizing in church basements, classrooms and around kitchen tables, they take on a conservative town council that won’t fly a rainbow flag and bend some rules to create a safe space for youth to come out. But despite experiences of isolation and discrimination, they love their communities and strive to make them places where everyone, no matter who and how they love, can live and thrive. Free for Miltonvale Park residents and by donation for others.

Monday -Sept 15 – 9 a.m. Michele Gallant is back for Fitness and Balance Seniors Fitness Classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 a.m.. Cost $6. The virtual exercise classes will continue on Fridays at 9 a.m. for $1.

Miltonvale Community Park – The park is no longer staffed, but will be checked sporadically. If you are there and notice it needs attention, please contact admin@miltonvalepark.com, 902-368-3090 or 902-213-0597.

Miltonvale Park Child Bursary – Residents, are you signing your children up for activities, classes, and lessons? Residents are entitled to $75/child/year to reimburse costs of extracurricular activities. https://miltonvalepark.com/for-residents/rebates-forms/

Radon – The municipality is participating in a campaign to happen in the fall of 2025, where we will have 100 radon detectors for residents to put in their homes for 100 days and then be sent off for results to be obtained (and emailed directly and confidentially back to residents). There will be an information session on October 30 and test kits will be distributed then. Register for this FREE program at admin@miltonvalepark.com.

 Be FIRESMART – The municipality now has magnets to give out to residents – with important contact information and the link to the FIRESMART website.
