PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls – Reels n’ Ragtime. Tuesday June 18, 2024 · $30 – Milton Community Hall. There’s power in twos. The Vaudevillain and Cassie & Maggie are two duos who have perfected their act with extensive touring to festivals across North America and Europe. The Vaudevillian are a Ragtime Blues pair who play a mean washboard, resonator guitar, banjo and musical spoons, bringing us back to the prohibition days. Travel to the Dirty 30’s with this eccentric act unlike anything you’ve seen! Then, get your hands and feet ready for the Celtic stylings of sisters Cassie & Maggie. Their fiery talent is only surpassed by the joy they exude in performance as the two bounce between guitar, piano, fiddle, singing and stepping. It’s another legendary Small Halls mixer in Milton! The hall has tickets ($30) or you can buy them online now, though there is an extra fee.

Community Garden Update (As of June 5)–There is still lots of space for local gardeners.…Council has bought weed barrier for all the plots if desired. There are a couple of taller raised beds that can also be used, if you like to garden, but don’t like to bend! Thanks to the Wheatley River 4-H Club who planted some onions tonight! If you would like to plant a plot, for yourself, or plant flowers or vegetables that can be shared with others, please reach out to the Council Office – admin@miltonvalepark.com.
Thanks to Twin Pines Tree Removal who are donating a truckload of wood chips mulch for the Community Garden. Contact them for tree removal, trimming, powerline clearance, stump removal, tree planting, storm cleanup, branch removal, and on-site milling at twinpinestree.ca or 902-314-1101.
Some of the garden will be used for individual plots (free) while the hall will plant some things they might use over the summer and fall, and other produce will be planted for community members. If anyone is interested in helping or donating extra plants, or garden equipment (rakes, hoes…) you may have, please contact the Council office. Also reach out if you would like to reserve a plot in the garden (either at the Community Park or across from the Milton Hall) this summer. There is no cost to have a plot -and residents have priority… 902-368-3090 or admin@miltonvalepark.com.
