POSITION MVP1: Community Engagement Coordinator – 14 weeks @ 40 hours/week
To engage residents to determine their needs and to provide information and programming for residents.
To survey residents and continue to gather information on the municipal EMO survey.
To plan, implement and evaluate small group or online activities, or plan future activities for residents. To assist with the planning and promotion of Canada Day, seniors programming and recreation events
Promotion of events.
To grow the municipal social media presence and brand.
To compile and organize information about past activities that could provide an easy-to-use reference for future events.
To inform, educate, assist and entertain residents to meet the needs communicated.
To perform office duties
Based at the Milton Community Hall.
Must be eligible for the Post Secondary Student Program
POSITION MVP 2: Environment and Community Living Student -approximately 8 weeks @40/hrs week -possibility of slightly longer term
Develop, promote and deliver a community recreation program for residents and park users. Assist with organizing & implementing special events (Canada Day, Christmas in July, fall celebration, etc.) and summer programming at the Miltonvale Community Park. Supervise the park, shelter and the safety of children at the park. Assist with organization and promotion of seniors activities, and other municipal events. Maintain COVID 19 protocols and logs. Other duties may include data entry, communications, updating social media, promoting the park and its facilities, purchasing program supplies, light maintenance and cleaning, and garden duties
Based at the Milton Community Park, 413 Sleepy Hollow Road. Some work may take place at the Milton Community Hall.

POSITION MCH 1 -Milton Hall Summer Activities Student – 8 weeks @ 40hrs/week
The summer student will assist the volunteer board with the maintenance of, and activities at, the Milton Community Hall. It is hoped throughout the summer that the student can clean and organize the basement, promote and organize smaller community activities, and update the website and social media accounts. The student will better organize its procedures and policies. The student will do light maintenance, such as exterior and interior painting, grass cutting, care and weeding of flower beds and boxes, and cleaning and sanitizing.
The student will book rentals and liaise with renters, explaining COVID protocols. The student will promote and assist with hall activities, which we anticipate will include small gatherings, such as coffee club, bake sales, pickle sales, and small concerts, and a car wash. The student may also assist with Canada Day activities. The student will help to organize recipes and information for catering, and may do baking and dishwashing. If the student has an interest in carpentry, under the supervision of several of the board members, a wardrobe closet could be constructed. The student will regularly update the website and the Milton Community Hall social media accounts.
The student will take a WHMIS course and ensure the hall fulfills the WHMIS requirements. The student may take a responsible beverage course or first aid course, if required.

POSITION MCH 2 – Facility Operations Manager – 8 weeks – 35 hours/week The facility operations manager will be responsible for assisting the volunteer board with the organizing, management and promotion of events at the Milton Community Hall. These may include card parties, concerts, socials, musical events, weddings, coffee club, yard sales, meetings and other community celebrations, such as Canada Day. The manager will create and revise a volunteer manual and a maintenance calendar and work to revise volunteer recruitment, training and recognition. The manager will promote events through creating posters, press releases, social media and signage, and regular updates of the website. The manager will perform light maintenance, including painting, cleaning, and food preparation, as well as setting up for events. The summer manager may also be given some data entry duties for accounting. The summer manager will assist with applications for funding for seniors programs and will help to organize and promote current seniors projects. The manager will liaise with renters and hall users and create and review COVID operational plans.
PLEASE NOTE – This position may be filled in the fall rather than the summer.

POSITION ARCH 1 – ARCH Outreach and Support -The student will be a support person for rural halls on PEI. The worker will be responsible for contacting all the Island Halls and updating contact information. The student will survey halls to determine priorities for further training and share information regarding best practices, regarding event organizing, promotion, working with volunteers, and other information useful to non-profit rural community halls, such as kitchen and liquor license regulations. The student will assist halls in the promotion of their halls and events, and will gather information for and share with the halls. The student will update the website and prepare a “How To” manual for halls to use the website features. The student will organize the annual meeting, and guest speakers and facilitate information sharing. If requested by member halls, the student can also assist with hall events.

POSITION ARCH 2 – It is anticipated that a similar position will be offered in the fall through the Canada Summer Jobs program (35 hours/week for 8 weeks)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Post Secondary Student Program
Eligible students must:
- Have graduated from Grade 12; and/or
- Have attended a post-secondary institution full-time in the current year and intend to return to full-time studies in the fall of the current year;
- Be a resident of Prince Edward Island and legally authorized to work in Canada;
Jobs for Youth
Youth hired through the Jobs for Youth program must meet the following criteria:
- Be an active student with the intention of returning to school in the next school year;
- Be a PEI resident that is eligible to work in Canada; and
- Be 15 to 29 years of age.
Canada Summer Jobs Program
To be eligible, youth must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
