ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge –
Miltonvale Park is participating in the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge throughout the month of June, with a month- long virtual walk where participants add their activity together to reach our goal -and a series of special events. We are asking residents to sign up with summer student Luke at the Council office to participate and to regularly send in your active minutes (or steps if that is easier for you to calculate). There are Provincial and National prizes for the most active community. Help Us Walk to Miltonvale, Kansas.
Miltonvale Park has joined the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge, to see who is Canada’s most active community! From June 1st to 30th, track your active minutes via the ParticipACTION app and send them to miltonvaleparkengage@gmail.com. We will be holding various free events throughout the month of June to help everyone be active, where we will be giving away some free stuff! The community goal is to collectively walk to Miltonvale, Kansas, which is more than 2000 miles away! Get moving to help us reach our goal! To register, email miltonvaleparkengage@gmail.com.
Walk at the Park
Help us start the PartcipACTION Community Better Challenge on the right foot! On Monday, June the 7th at 10am, come join us on the Miltonvale Community Park walking trail for a group walk. This is a great way to get your steps up for the challenge and help us reach our goal of collectively walking to Miltonvale, Kansas. We will be giving away water bottles to anyone who attends! Disc Golf at the Park
If you’ve ever wanted to try Disc Golf, your time has come! On Tuesday, June the 8th, we will be partnering with go!pei to have disc golf at the Miltonvale Community Park (413 Sleepy Hollow Road) as part of the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge, hosted by the Island Disc Golf Company. Yoga at the Park
Join us at the Miltonvale Community Park for outdoor yoga with Leone Curtis! On Wednesdays June the 9th, 16th, and 23rd at 10am, come out and enjoy your Wednesday mornings with us. Line Dancing
On Thursday, June the 17th at the Miltonvale Community Park, come out and try line dancing! This is a great way to get active for the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge. The municipality also intends to schedule a community bicycle ride during the Community Better Challenge.
ParticipACTION and the Community Better Challenge are funded by the Government of Canada.
Regular Development Office Hours – Michael Olubiyi is in the office at the Milton Community Hall on Wednesdays to receive development application forms or answer development questions. He works for Miltonvale Park from 9 a.m. -2 p.m. on Wednesdays until fall – but may be out in the municipality visiting properties. Drop in or make an appointment by calling the office at 902-368-3090 or emailing develop@miltonvalepark.com.
Official Plan Update – All the information regarding the Official Plan and Bylaw Review is available on a page on the municipal website. The most recent versions of the draft Official Plan and Development Bylaws are at the bottom of that page, although one more version is expected very soon, after the planners finish the edits after the legal review. Planning Board is expected to recommend the documents be approved by Council at the Planning Board meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday June 9. The Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Milton Community Hall. Please pre-register by noon on the meeting day if you wish to attend either meeting to admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090.
Leone Curtis is now leading Mat Yoga on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. and Chair Yoga on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 and Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. at the Milton Community Hall. The cost is $5 and if you would like to attend chair yoga you can register here. Contact the Council office if you are interested in the mat yoga.
We still have quite a few fabric face masks at the Council Office for residents – Residents are encouraged to drop by and pick one up! There are also books to borrow, and a food supply cupboard if you need items such as canned meats, snacks, toilet paper, toothpaste, juice, jam, peanut butter, cheese whiz… and disposable masks and gloves.
The Young At Heart Musical Theatre will be presenting Fascinating Maritime Ladies at the Milton Community Hall on 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, June 12. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by contacting the hall at 902-566-3154 or miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com.

Summer Students – Several summer students have already started their positions – Ananya Kaur is back at the Community Park and is currently working 10-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. On June 7, she will be joined by returning student Janelle Sinclair and the park hours will be extended. They have a variety of toys at the park that can be used there, and Ananya is currently planning summer activities. Luke Doiron is working for the municipality this summer as Community Engagement Coordinator. He has been organizing ParticipACTION events and will also be working on Seniors events and the Canada Day Celebration and is mostly working out of the Council Office, where he can be reached at 902-368-3090 or MiltonvaleParkEngage@gmail.com. If there are activities (or speakers) you would like to see the municipality host this summer, please let him know. The municipality also has a film subscription until the end of July – so if there is a movie you would like to see on the big screen, please let him (or Lindsey) know. Luke is also holding down the fort until June 10, while I am isolating at home after an out of province appointment.
The Milton Community Hall has hired Lindsey Rhynes as Outreach Coordinator for the summer and she and the new hall summer student (soon to be announced!) will be working on events for the summer. Coffee Club will take place over the summer on Mondays and Fridays at 10 a.m. They are hoping to focus on events for young adults, and would welcome suggestions that might appeal to that age group. There is still an opening for a student for the Association of Rural Community Hall, based at the hall, and possibly 8-week positions for the hall, park and ARCH later in the summer/fall.
