Monday, March 16 – 4-6 p.m. Plant-Based Perfection -A Tasty Exploration with Less Meat – Cooking with Tempeh with Macro Mon Sarah Forrester. Tempeh is a nutritious, fermented soybean cake originating from Indonesia, prized as a high-protein, fiber-rich, and versatile plant-based meat alternative. It has a firm, chewy texture with a mild, nutty flavour. It is often used in stir-fries, sandwiches, salads, and bowls due to its ability to absorb marinades. Free, but the class size is limited to 12, so Miltonvale Park residents have priority registration until March 7. James Rodd invites community-minded people, who also like to act or help in other ways, to a meeting on Monday, March 16th at 7 pm in the FCC room, upstairs in the Milton Community Hall. The purpose is to suggest all imaginable ideas for a future production at the Milton Community Hall. Bring your ideas, your creativity and your sense of humour. James says, “We have had a hiatus. The contest showcases some of the best speakers on the Island, so it’s a great opportunity for residents to experience high-quality public speaking and see what Toastmasters is all about.
Plant-Based Perfection Monday March 30 from 4-6 p.m.- Seitan – Seitan is a populat plant-based meat substitute made from wheat gluten, known as “wheat meat” for its chewy, meat-like texture and savory flavor, making it a high-protein, low-carb alternative for vegans and vegetarians. It’s made by washing wheat flour dough to remove starch, leaving the gluten, which is then seasoned and cooked in broth. Seitan is versatile and can be used in stir-fries, curries, and grilled as steaks or nuggets, but it is unsuitable for those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. TICKET INFORMATION! Saturday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. – Fascinating Ladies of Country –Tickets are $15 and can be purchased through e-transfer to MiltonCommunityHall@gmail.com or drop into the hall. It is a celebratory musical revue, featuring music from some of the most iconic and influential female country artists of the last century to present-day. Presented by the Young at Heart Theatre. The show also highlights the women’s liberation movement and the way these artists expressed themselves to help empower women around the world.
Some of the songs featured include 9 to 5, Delta Dawn, Fancy, Any Man of Mine and Miss Chatelaine. The show is written, compiled and directed by Catherine O’Brien with musical direction and arrangements by Brielle Ansems. The cast features talented PEI artists Olivia Blacquiere, Stephanie Ross and Haley Zavo. P.S. Sunset is about 7:55 p.m, and the show is about an hour long.

Part-time work – Are you available for part-time work beginning soon, for 10-20 hours a week organizing and promoting events, social media, recording data, and compiling reports. We may be looking for someone who is familiar with Milton Community Hall and Miltonvale Park to assist with a funded project to build resilience. This may continue into the summer on a part-time basis, flexible hours. Salary range – $18-21/hour. For more information, contact miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com
Miltonvale Community Park – The park closed for the winter, but will be checked sporadically. If you are there and notice it needs attention, please contact admin@miltonvalepark.com, 902-368-3090 or 902-213-0597. The walking trail and parking lot have recently been paved. Please do not drive vehicles on the paved trail. An accessible drum set was installed in late fall near the park entrance – check it out on the next fine day!
Miltonvale Park Child Bursary – Residents, are you signing your children up for activities, classes, and lessons? Residents are entitled to $75/child/year (April 1- March 31) to reimburse costs of extracurricular activities. https://miltonvalepark.com/for-residents/rebates-forms/
Snowshoes – The municipality has 6 pairs of adult snowshoes and poles, and four pairs of youth snowshoes to borrow. Contact admin@miltonvalepark or 902-368-3090 to make arrangements to borrow them. The municipality needs the borrowed snowshoes to be returned for an event on March 1.
The local 4-H Clubs still have some reversible cat and dog bandanas at the hall. $5
Reminder – There are books and puzzles to borrow in the lobby at the Milton Community Hall.
Food hampers – Thanks to all who donated extra grocery bags for the food hampers. We have one more (likely smaller) hamper giveaway… so if you have the firm bags which stand on their own, we will happily take them at the hall!
Municipal Elections – November 2, 2026 – The PEI Coalition for Women’s Leadership (CWL) is offering a Municipal Training Series aiming to develop capacity in municipal politics across PEI. The Municipal Training Series will be a cohort series of six workshops, focused on supporting individuals who intend to get involved in municipal politics. The sessions will be open to members of the public who want to run for elected positions, as well as people who want to support someone else’s campaign. The aim is to demystify politics and reduce barriers to participation, recognizing that knowledge will promote political participation and strengthen our Island. Register here for the Municipal Training Series. The municipality will be appointing a Municipal Elections Officer this spring. The Milton Community Hall is an Emergency Warming Center, so can usually be opened in inclement weather (depending on bookings). Watch for a new initiative from the Milton Most Valuable People (MiltonMVPs) project! Peggy is planning The “Milton Story” Album. The Milton Story project aims to strengthen the social fabric of Miltonvale Park by capturing the personal stories, wisdom, and faces of our residents. By using our community’s name as a “Word Bank,” we will create a high-quality video series and a commemorative album that celebrates the individuals who make our community home. Sounds neat!! The Milton MVPs project is funded by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being. We are also planning a survey to be sure we are meeting the needs of Miltonvale Park residents! More details to follow.
POPPIES – Miltonvale Park is in the Kingston Legion zone. The Kingston Legion (New Haven) is seeking volunteers to crochet or knit Poppies for their Poppy Drape Project. The Legion would like 3000 handmade poppies for an outdoor display at the Legion during Remembrance Week 2026. This project will honour veterans and help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion.
